Adult Acne Treatment – How it works
Unfortunately, there are many individuals that do not seek adult acne treatment when they are adolescents and end up having very damaged skin with scars in it. Although the adult acne treatment is not always effective, it is usually beneficial in preventing the breakout from getting worse and for targeting the worst problem areas in the skin.
It is best to seek treatment as soon as possible as the treatment for adult acne will reduce scarring but not get rid of the scars completely
There are mainly 3 factors that determines the success of adult acne treatment. They are the type and severity of scarring, the age of the person and the level of tolerance the person has to medical procedures and medicines.
Methods
The first type of acne treatment is subcision. This method lifts the surface of the scar back to the level of the skin to help the skin look smooth again. Several sessions is required for subcision.
Since the procedure has to be repeated and there is bruising after the treatment for almost a week, there are some people who cannot practically use this method of adult acne treatment. There are also some bleeding issues while healing that can be a problem if the person wants to be able to immediately go back to work.
There is another method of adult acne treatment that is used for mild scarring and is called the TCA cross. In this method, there is an acid called trichloracetic that is put on each scar on the face. It seems to help the skin to produce the collagen it needs to bring the base of the scar up to the surface of the skin so that the skin is made flat again.
A deep scarring method is the use of a synthetic gel, to literally fill the scars in. The filler makes the skin look smooth and natural. The gel is placed in the scars by injection.
Another method for deep acne scars is called the ice-pick or boxcar scars. The scar is removed and the skin is sewn back together, this creates a thin barely noticeable scar when healed. If compared with acne scars it is definitely the better option.
