How To Clear Acne-Prone Skin

Not only teenagers have acne-prone skin because adults also can get acne. However, this should not be a problem for you if you take the necessary steps to care for your skin and find ways to get rid of the acne. Hormones may cause acne but sometimes, it could also be how you take care of your skin that has something to do with your skin condition.

Now, if you really want to have flawless, smooth skin with not an acne in sight, you must put in the time and effort to pamper your skin. There are lucky people who need not do anything and yet have crystal clear skin but there are those who will have to take extra efforts to care for the skin to prevent breakouts. If you belong in the second group, then it is time you take measures to get rid of the acne and then prevent it from cropping up.

To get rid of acne, you must never fall victim to acne myths which will not help you in the least. Instead, you can take concrete steps that are effective in clearing up your acne prone skin. One of the simplest method is to practice a strict skin care regime which includes cleansing, toning and moisturizing. This, you only need to do twice a day. You need to cleanse to get rid of the dirt and oil on your skin, then to tone it to reduce the pores and moisturize it to protect the skin from the harsh environment. Without moisturizers, you will be leaving your skin bare and unprotected which is not good.

You can get some acne treatment creams or lotions to combat your acne problem. In fact, you don’t really need to pay for an expensive prescription cream. You can also give over-the-counter creams such as those that contain benzoyl peroxide a try as these are proven to be effective in treating and preventing acne. But before you apply the cream all over your face, it is best you try it on a small area of the affected skin first. This is a precaution as we never know how sensitive your skin is and how it will react with the cream as each individual’s skin reacts very differently to topical creams and lotions.

The same must also be said about skin care products like cleansers, toners and moisturizers. You have to buy products that are hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic to prevent the products from irritating your skin and causing more acne. You could purchase sample sizes of the products and try them out in small amounts before buying the full size. Only get the full range, full size products after trying them out and finding that they do not irritate your skin but are improving your skin. So, if you plan to buy a popular or well-known skin care range, be careful. It may be well-known but it may not be suitable for your skin. What is important is that the product has to suit your skin.

Finally, remember to always cleanse your face, follow up with a toner and then a moisturizer, especially ones with sunblock in it. You need the toner to reduce the pores and the moisturizer is to provide a layer of protection for your skin so that it does not need to go into overdrive to produce sebum to protect your skin. And if you have acne, also remember to apply the topical acne treatment cream to it. Always, always remember NOT to pop the acne. Popping the acne will cause scars and that’s not all, it may even spread the bacteria to other areas of the skin and cause more acne. So keep your hands away, take good care of your skin and you are on your way to smooth, flawless skin!
